Los Islands is a communal living project that began in the early 2010s inside a shared space in Downtown Los Angeles. A few people, a few rooms, and the need to shape the space they lived in.
What began as a simple shared arrangement gradually evolved into a spatial configuration that does not easily fit within conventional housing models, and into a form of shared living that is ancient in origin yet rarely supported by contemporary housing typologies.
It is within this context that Los Islands develops communal living as an architectural project, creating domestic spaces that give greater structure and intention to shared life.
